Mountain experiences on foot in Vålådalen

The mountain villages of Fångåmon, Vallbo, Östra Vålådalen and Vålådalen are south of Ottsjön. Bathing, fishing, kayaking – your imagination is pretty much the limit! There are great daytrips from all the villages, or you can walk between them.
At Vålådalen Mountain Station, you can choose from hotel accommodation, an STF youth hostel or a cosy timbered cabin. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sportboden rents out and sells equipment. Basic groceries are also on sale.
Östra Vålådalen has accommodation, a restaurant, campsite and a shop for basic groceries at Vålågården.
Vallbo has a fascinating trail with local nature and history.
Fångåmon has a campsite and a kayak centre on Ottsjön’s shore.
New rules in Vålådalen Nature Reserve!
Most of the trails in the Vålådalen area run partly within the Vålådalen nature reserve. The reserve has has new rules since May 2023. You must know these rules when you visit the reserve.
There are areas where you may only light fires in the designated firepits, using wood you brought yourself or sometimes with wood that can be carried from the trail hub.
You may still camp in almost the entire reserve, but there are a few areas where this is not permitted.
You can cycle on designated trails, but not at all times of the year.
More information about the rules can be found on signs at the trail hubs in Vålådalen and Vallbo.
