A short outing with interesting history

Start at ICA Ottsjö Bua. If you’ve forgotten your picnic or want to buy a fishing permit, visit the shop before heading out. Then follow the road west to the end of the village. There are signs with information about Ottsjö and its inhabitants – past and present. Turn left, down through the magical spruce forest. When it opens up, at Sjölägdan, you can enjoy views across Lake Ottsjön. Take a detour to the lake if you want to listen to the waves washing the shoreline.

Your walk continues through horse pastures and, in the summer, beautiful flower meadows. After a while, the trees thin and you come to Ottsjös mountain farms. An easy gravel road takes you up the hill back to the shop.
