Four picnic spots and a summit

This route starts at Köja with 3 km of gentle skiing through the forest to the wind shelter at Sönnestvallen, an old shieling. Then there’s 1.5 km uphill to Grofjällsstugan. It is a perfect place for a break in this fairytale landscape, with Åreskutan and Mullfjället to the northwest. When you’ve had your fill of food and the view, glide through open mountain terrain to the wind shelter at Vackermon. Then head towards Dalen. If you feel like taking another break, there is a wind shelter at Sönkmyrbäcken. In Dalen, take the lit trail back to “Köja”.

If you’re reasonably fit and the weather is good, you can follow the trail marked with red crosses to the summit of Grofjället. The view from the top is worth the effort and the downhill on the way back is a bonus.
