A good day out for well-trained skiers

This route crosses open mountainside, and the trails on the back of Välliste often snows over. The back of Välliste could be off-piste skiing on touring skis. The trail often snows over and you may need a map and compass to find your way, but this route is fantastic on a beautiful winter’s day if you are a good skier.

From the hotel or the cross-country parking there is a gentle start up to Korsflon, then get some steam up past the Norra cabin and up into Norra ravine. Turn left after the ravine and take on the challenge of the steep climb to the summit of Välliste. The view from up there is astounding. You can get your breath back in the hut at the summit and have some snacks from your rucksack, as well as logging your achievement in the guestbook. The reward for all your hard work is the thrilling downhill all the way to Ytterstvallen. First west, past Skalknippen, before turning abruptly down to Ripkallhöjden.
