Blanktjärnsrundan
A vision in greeen
Crystal-clear water, calcium and light – this is the magic formula for the emerald green colour of Blanktjärn. In the clear water you can see calcium particles that are stuck at the bottom and on the trees that have fallen into the lake. The water gets its emerald-green color when light shines on the tiny calcium particles that still floats freely in the water.
But, along the lakeshore, feet have walked, wheels rolled and campfires burned, wearing away the plants and mosses. The roots that have held the soil in place are broken, so there is a risk of soil washing into the water. This will cloud Blanktjärn’s water, making it look the same as any other lake – for ever.
You can help save Blanktjärn. All you need to do is follow the rules when you walk the Blanktjärnsrundan route. The rules are available on signs along the trail and by the lake. Stay back from the lakeshore and respect the ban to leave the trail.
