Demanding route with amazing views
It used to be said that this route was not for ladies in skirts. Of course, gender is irrelevant, but you should be a decent skier. If the weather is blustery, choose a trail in more sheltered terrain, as this one gets covered by drifts when it’s windy on the open mountainside.
Start at Trillevallens Högfjällshotell or at the cross-country parking and then tackle the tough climb to the Norra cabin via Korsflon. Eventually, you’ll get above the treeline and continue through Norra ravine. Ski for 3.5 km above the treeline, enjoying magical views across Åreskutan, Snasahögarna and Bydalsfjällen. Handölsdalen Sami village often grazes reindeer around Välliste in the winter, so you have a chance of seeing some. After Skalknippen, there is a pleasant downhill to Ludumyrarna via Ripkallhöjden. If you haven’t yet taken a break, this is the place to do it. The route ends with easy skiing back to Högfjällshotellet.
You can also choose to start the route in the ski area and ski to Norra cabin, after which you ski back to the ski area from Torget, instead of gliding down to Högfjällshotellet.
