A longer route with great views

This new, slightly longer route starts at the upper car park, west of Ottsjö Fjällby. Start on the same route as number 260, past Platåkåtan and the viewing platform at Högåsen. Soon after passing a lovely rest area, you come to a junction where you should keep to the right.

The trail follows plankways over marshes and hills with gnarled mountain birches, along a ridge called Storbäckåsen. There are mountain views in every direction – Anarisfjällen and Lunndörrsfjällen are to the south, and the Sätterån valley and Grofjället to the north.

The wind shelter on the Plateau is a good place for a rest if the weather is poor. From here it is 2.5 kilometres to the road, where you can choose to walk 2 km to Hållfjället, or continue 1 km to Hållvallen sheiling and then back to Ottsjö.
