Family outing in sheltered mountain terrain
This is the perfect outing if the weather is too poor for a long trip. Start at Trillevallens Högfjällshotell and ski through sheltered birch forest to Korsflon. Then you will have to use your poles up the hill to the fire pit and Restaurang Ripan. In other words, you’ll deserve a good lunch, or at least a lovely break by the fire, or – if the weather allows – on the sundeck. The view of the Anaris Massif is yours for free.
When you feel recharged, continue your trip another 1.5 km through the forest down to Torget. From there, head back to Högfjällshotellet through another 1.5 km of easy terrain, surrounded by old-growth forest. This part of the trail is called the President’s trail. This is said to be because of the Finnish president Urho Kekkonen, who skied here many years ago. At that time, many of the regular guests at Trillevallens Högfjällshotell were famous in the arts and culture scene. It is likely that this route gained its name, Kulturvändan – the cultural route, because it was the right length for people who were here mainly to socialise.
