From Undersåker to Stockholm
Yes – in total, Södra Årefjällen grooms and maintains ski tracks and walking trails that are equivalent to the distance from Undersåker to Stockholm.
Paying your track & trail fee means that you are contributing to excellent ski tracks and better services. We are working hard to make ski tracks and walking trails accessible to more people. This means we need better signage, accessible toilets and picnic areas where you can eat a packed lunch, have a barbecue or just rest your legs and enjoy the scenery. Our aim is to be able to offer world-class ski tracks and walking trails.
Ski tracks in the summer and walking trails in the winter
In Södra Årefjällen, we work on ski tracks in the summer and walking trails in the winter, which is not as peculiar as it sounds. In the summer, we cut back the vegetation, put up signs, and build and renovate bridges along the ski trails – lots of work that is never really visible. The walking trails often need to be reinforced with plankways and woodchips. All this material must be driven out by snowmobile in the winter, so that it is in place beside the trails once the snow has melted and we can start work.
You contribute to all of this by paying the track & trail fee. Thank you!
